Quartzsite, AZ. March 21

Just a quick note to let you all know how we're  doing.
We got back to Quartzsite on Wednesday afternoon, just in time to see Kevin and Dianne before they started home.  They left here on Thursday morning, so it's pretty lonesome without them.  Dianne also did the cooking for all of us, so Buck is really going to miss that.  Now it's up to him.
I saw the Doctor before we left to come back here and they were happy with the way I am healing.  They took x-rays and that was pretty interesting.  On one side there is a plate with 7 screws and the other bone has 2 long screws.  So now I'm just waiting for it to heal.  5 or 6 more weeks before I can put any weight on it.    We will move up to a RV Park in the Phoenix area and stay there until I am discharged and ready to go home.  The Physical therapy can be done at home.
The weather here is getting pretty warm, will be needing the air soon, although it still gets nice and cool at night.
That's all for now.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers, The Lord has seen to it, that I have been well taken care of.  I thank him for that!!

March 17th

I decided that I should just write a blog about what's being going on in our life, instead of sending out emails.
We have been in Quartzsite, AZ all winter enjoying the wonderful weather!!  It has been one of the nicest winters that we have experienced down here.
Everything was going great until one night three weeks ago, when I couldn't sleep and got up to have a snack and missed the last step and fell and broke my ankle.  I was laying on the floor, yelling for Buck to please help me, my right foot pointing to the right instead of to the front, wondering how in the heck was I going to get up and get out of the RV.  I knew I needed the ER and that was 35 miles away in Parker.  Buck called Kevin and between the 2 of them they got me up and out and into the truck.  Not a easy task.
I ended up dislocating and breaking two bones in my right ankle.  They got it back in place and splinted it in the ER telling me that I would defiantly need surgery.  I had the surgery done a week ago in Phoenix.  A plate on one bone and pins and screws in the other.  I have been staying with my cousin since then, don't know what I would have done without their help.   Buck makes a darn good nurse too, and also Kevin and Dianne.
I will not be able to put any weight on my ankle for at least 6 weeks and the surgeon would like me to stay here until it heals, so looks like we will be moving our RV up to the Phoenix area and won't be able to go home  until the end of April or first of May.
I am doing great tho, knowing I am on the road to recovery.
I'm going to end this for now and will write again soon.

October 9th....Quartzsite, AZ

We got to Quartzsite a couple of days ago, back in the sunny and dry climate.
What a fantastic summer we have had!!  Kind of sad to have our trip end, but it will be nice to stay in one spot for a while.  Although we are going home for 2 or 3 weeks.  We fly out of AZ on the 17th and will spend a week in WI with our son, and other family that live there.  From there we will go home for a couple of weeks to be with family there.  We are driving my brothers RV back to AZ for them and they will fly down after the holidays.  So still traveling I guess
We left Crescent City on sat morning and drove south and east and ended up staying in a Casino Lot that night.  On Sunday we drove as to Bakersfield and spend the night in a Walmart lot.  It was a interesting drive through the agriculture valley in CA.  There was grove after grove of almond and pistachio trees,  and vineyards and winerys.  I was surprised to learn that also grow a lot of rice in the valley.  But there was so much traffic, didn't like that.
Because of the government shut down, the BLM land that we park on in the winter is closed, tho we did pull in and park anyway.  Lots of people park out here on the desert, so it's going to be a problem for a lot of people if they don't get things settled soon.
I guess this is my blog, I have enjoyed doing it, which actually surprised me.  I didn't think that I would keep it up, but found that I did have fun doing it and sharing my pictures.

This is where we are parked, have been parking on this same spot for 6 years

It is windy today so lots of dust in the air, but it is in the 70's, so perfect.  Yesterday it was over 90, a
bit to hot for me

October 2nd

We're still staying in Crescent City.  Today we drove south to see the redwoods, there was a lot of road work in the park and in some places the road was closed, but we saw a lot.  They are so massive and awesome and it's almost impossible to get the pictures to show how really big and tall that they are.  I did find if I pointed the camera straight up you can see better how tall they are....here are some pics

I thought this made a interesting picture

The top so this tree is way up there

Same tree, still not to the fop

Today we drove thru part of the Redwood National Park.  Tomorrow we plan on going to the Avenue of Giants, where the redwoods on even bigger.
Lots of pics...
They do get over a 100 inches of rain a year here.

This is a really big one

How would like to find this big guy in your garden...it's a banana slug

The tree is wider than our truck

We sat here and watched the surf while we ate our lunch

This one is hollow

The ferns are taller then I am

Moss covere tree

Ferns growing on a dead log

This is one of the bigger trees that we saw today.  It is 304 ft tall,   21.6 ft diameter,  68 ft circumference and the estimated age is 1500 years

September 30th.....Crescent City, CA

We had such a pleasant surprise this morning.  The storm had ended and the sun was shinning!!! It was a wonderful day!

Battery Point Lighthouse is an active lighthouse with a residence and keeper

We were hearing these Sea Lions this morning in the RV but couldn't see them.  Found them later just across the harbor.  They do make a lot of noise!

Got a pic of our RV while watching the Sea Lions across the harbor

I caught this surfer just as he was getting up

This surfing beach is close too, just across the harbor.  Lots pretty scary to me

September 29....Crescent City, CA

It's been a few days since I have written.   See if I can remember what we have been doing....
We left the coast on the 26th and drove inland, planning on going up to see Crater Lake.  Found out that wasn't such a good plan as the weather was not good up there, they were getting rain and possible snow.  So we changed our plans and drove south and west to Crescent City and got to a RV park right on the ocean.  We are very close to the Redwood National Park, actually drove thru it on way here.  We went to spend some time there after it stops raining, which is suppose to be on Tuesday and nice the rest so the week.
They have been having quite a storm all the way down the coast with lots of wind and rain.  It started here last night, and just a few minutes ago got very windy.  It is shaking the RV and the waves coming in off the ocean are getting kind of wild.  I love watching them...
We plan on staying here for a week and then head for Arizona.  We have close to a 1,000 miles to go and want to get there around the 10th of October, so we still have some time...but our big trip is getting close to the end.
I should hve some pictures of the redwood trees in a few days...
