We are back in the US and the lower 48. We got thru customs with a bit of a hassle, only because we have a rifle with us, so we had to pull over and they needed to check the serial numbers with our paperwork. It took an hour to do that but no problems.
About 20 miles from the border on Interstate 5 we had a scary experience. Some idiot driver in front of us had either stopped or was just barely moving, and as soon as Buck realized that we were coming up on him fast, he slammed on the brakes. We came so close to running over him and we were sliding far enough to put flat spots on both front tires. We were able to get off on the exit to Ferndale and found a tire shop. The 2 front tires were ruined, they were only a year old. The tread was wore down to the wear bar on the flat spots. At least we know our brakes are ok. So we did replace all 4 tires. We were both so shook up!! We are just so thankful that we were not hurt or anyone else. It was so close to being a serious accident. Once again the Lord was watching over us and kept us safe.
We found a RV park in Ferndale and such a coincidence that we have a friend that lives here, we know her from AZ. We called her and we went out to dinner and then she drove us around showing us some of the sites in the area. It was so good to see her and it helped us to calm down and get relaxed a bit.
September 12
We decided to stay here another day and drive up to Mt Baker. It was a great day, the sun was shinning and warm and it was another beautiful drive. I am posting pics from up there.
